Pastor Josh Fields was raised in the great state of Maryland, where he has spent most of his life. Being raised in the church, he was saved at the age of five. As he grew up, he was mentored by Rev. Ken Tipton and Mr. Gary Winters, who poured their love for Christ and knowledge and wisdom about life and music into him. Because of their influence, he began serving churches as a music minister at nineteen.
While serving smaller churches, Pastor Josh attended Towson University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music and Psychology. He moved to Tennessee to become the Music Minister at Silver Springs Baptist Church after graduation. After a short tenure, he moved back to Maryland to serve as the Pastor of Worship and Pastoral Care at Middle River Baptist Church.
During his tenure at Middle River Baptist, he earned his Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministries from Liberty
University. Pastor Glenn Leatherman spent time mentoring and discipling Pastor Josh and ordained him to the Gospel
Ministry in October 2013. While serving at Middle River Baptist, he married his wife, Christen.
Following his tenure at Middle River Baptist, he spent a year and a half as a church planter. He worked tirelessly to plant Venture
Church in Harford County, Md. Ultimately, the plant failed, but God moved by opening a door at Paramount Baptist Church in
Hagerstown, Md. He spent the best years of his ministry so far serving as the Pastor of Worship and Pastoral Care.
At Paramount Baptist, he sensed the call to become a Lead Pastor. He enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Liberty University,
where he studied Preaching and Teaching. He is currently working on his Culmination/Thesis projects and will complete the program in May 2023.
Pastor Josh owes an outstanding debt to his mentors who befriended, encouraged, challenged, and taught him through the years. In addition to the men mentioned above, he is especially indebted to Dr. David Hall, Pastor Frank Duncan (Paramount Baptist), and Pastor Geoff Mason (Paramount Baptist). Each of these men loves Jesus, is committed to accurately preaching God’s Word, and seeks to expand God’s Kingdom.
Pastor Josh and his wife, Christen, have three boys, Camden, Simon, and Harrison, and are expecting a baby girl, Maisie, in January!
Together they look forward to the many exciting and Christ-glorifying years ahead at Lynnhaven Baptist Church.
Laurie Zimmerman heads up our Children & Youth Ministry at Lynnhaven Baptist. She has faithfully
served since 2008 and seen many children & teens come to know Jesus and deepen their spiritual walk with Him.
She encourages her kids as Paul did Timothy in 2 Timothy 4: 6-7 “Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but
set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
She loves working with students of all ages and has a passion and enthusiasm in sharing the gospel knowing if they turn
their lives over to Jesus at an early age, they will have fewer regrets, a much more fulfilled and meaningful life and an eternity with Jesus.
Karen has been on staff as our church secretary since 1992. In addition to secretarial work, she has been very active in our VBS program,
and a part of several mission trips and local missions over the years. "Way back in 1992 I felt God calling me into the ministry and I had no clue what that looked like, but I'm so thankful He led me to Lynnhaven. I've been able to use my gifts and talents working with other staff members and members of the congregation."
In her spare time, Karen enjoys doing crafts, going to concerts and reading.
